The spring and summer months are typically the most popular time of the year at Rothiemurchus. It is when Rothiemurchus comes to life, with everyone out enjoying themselves on our activities, walking, cycling and just generally having a wonderful time in the forest, lochs and hills!

As we look forward to welcoming you all, we also want to ask for your help and be our eyes, ears and noses on the ground in times of high fire risk.

Earlier this year, we dealt with a fire at Lochan Mòr. Thankfully, it was brought under control quickly.

Wildfires can spread rapidly through woodland and peatland, causing devastating damage to wildlife, habitats and the landscape that so many people love. Even a small flame or spark can quickly become a serious incident in these conditions. Discarded cigarettes, campfires, disposable barbecues and even glass left in the sun can all start fires.

Our ranger team is out daily, welcoming and chatting to visitors and looking out for fires, but we all have a part to play in preventing wildfires. If you see smoke or any sign of fire, please call 999 immediately.
