Our wonderful volunteer, Neil Dakin, raised £635.78 for Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and Cancer Research UK

Earlier this year our wonderful volunteer, Neil Dakin, shaved his head… all in the name of charity!  His chosen charities were Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and Cancer Research UK and he raised a fantastic total of £635.78 in sponsorship for shaving his head. Well done Neil, everyone at Rothiemurchus is so proud of you.

Neil chose to have his head shaved at our Platinum Jubilee Food Festival, and our very own James and Daisy Grant were in charge of the hair clippers, and did a very good job!

Last week Neil met Joris Volmer from Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team to hand over the cheque. Cairngorm Mountain Rescue provides assistance to injured or lost persons in and around the Cairngorm Mountains. The vast area that they cover includes the Northern Cairngorms, Ben Alder and areas of Monadhliath Mountains to the East Side of Loch Ness. The team is made up entirely of volunteers who give their time freely to help those in need of aid in the mountains.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team relies on fundraising. Every donation helps them keep their team safe and equipment up-to-date.

The second half of the money Neil raised has been transferred to Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest independent cancer research charity, and the single biggest charitable of research at The Institute of Cancer Research.
