Rothiemurchus Farm Shop, Aviemore – now open at weekends with an expanded range of delicious food and drink
During difficult times, at the Rothiemurchus Farm Shop we’re doing our best to support the local community by offering an alternative to supermarket shopping. Our new one-way system allows customers to social distance and we’re encouraging everyone to wash their hands as they come in.
We’ve listened to what our customers needed in the Farm Shop – and you told us you wanted to be able to shop over the weekends. So from today we’ll be open 5 days a week from Thursdays-Mondays inclusive, 11am-3pm. You’ll also see some exciting new additions to our range. We hope you like them!
A wider selection at the meat counter
The Farm Shop is of course well-known for our own Rothiemurchus dry-aged Highland beef and venison. Our beef is a lean, well-marbled meat full of tenderness, succulence and a distinctive flavour. This is pure-bred, heritage meat farmed on a small scale, from cattle who live their entire lives year-round in the open air. It’s traditionally hung for a slow maturing, for between 4-6 weeks, and then expertly butchered and prepared on-site by our highly experienced butcher Brian Dey.
At the meat counter there’s usually a good selection from the following beef and venison cuts: steaks, beef rib roast and venison rolled haunch roast, casserole, as well as burgers, mince and sausages. We’re also excited to announce that our Rothiemurchus Highland Beef is now available from ProFish in Aviemore village centre too.
We now also stock British free range chicken and pork. Our pork selection includes both pork and pork and chilli sausages, steaks, stir fry, spare ribs, mince, casserole, rolled shoulder and gigot. We currently stock both whole chicken and chicken breast, and don’t forget that we also stock vegetarian sausages. If you’re after a particular cut of meat it’s always best to call ahead just to be sure we have it in stock that day!
We’ve expanded our artisan cheese selection to welcome a few newcomers, and there are lots of other new products in the deli too, like an award-winning Greek Manouri cheese – as well as tried and tested favourites like our black pudding scotch eggs. We know how convenient it is to have ready-to-cook meals to hand, so our popular range of frozen dishes has also grown – two of the recent tasty additions are lobster mac’n’cheese and crab cakes from Highland Bay seafoods.
Breads, brews and treats
Each day we bake a variety of breads and croissants, and our legendary Druie scones are baked fresh twice weekly. For the perfect accompaniment, we’ve got a range of speciality teas, ground and bean coffees from The Bean Shop – you can even pick up a freshly brewed coffee to go whilst the Druie café is temporarily closed. Rest assured we still have plenty of indulgent sweet and savoury treats and snacks too – crisps, pork scratchings, biscuits, shortbreads – and chocolates from Montezuma’s, Rococo and Chocolate Tree.
Store cupboard essentials
We stock lots of local fruit and vegetables in season including asparagus and salads as well as produce from further afield like ripe avocadoes. We always have a range of flours, yeast and baking supplies, pasta, oils and dressings, tinned tomatoes, pulses and nuts, as well as speciality ingredients which may otherwise be hard to find locally. We also cater for a wide variety of dietary needs; you can find Doves Farm Gluten free flours and other baking ingredients and mixes, biscuits, cakes, crackers, as well as dairy free chocolates, oat milk and other milk alternatives.
As always you can choose from our tempting selection of wines, beers, spirits, alcohol free drinks, cordials and mixers, many made locally – some very locally such as craft beers and small batch gins lovingly created in Strathspey.
