I hope the pieces reflect my love of colour, fabrics and print and my passion for vintage clothing.

When I was wee I loved playing dress up, drawing and making fancy clothes for my dollies, I also really liked going out and getting muddy but more of that later. As a teenager in the 90s my friends and I loved shopping vintage or rooting through charity shops, whether we were reveling in expressing our individuality or trying to emulate all the cooler older kids who rolled through Aviemore each summer season is hard to say!

Whatever the reason vintage clothing and 20th-century history became two of my passions so it didn’t come as much of surprise that I eventually found myself studying Performance Costume at Edinburgh Art School – fast forward a few years and my love of Vintage has been twinned with a love for great design, fabrics and colour and I have enjoyed building on my knowledge during a 20-year Career in Costume for TV and Film. I’m still a girl who doesn’t mind going out and getting muddy and that’s been helpful in many a *scenic muddy field * filming an epic an battle or two.

As a Costume Designer, I’m interested in the fabric, the colour and the cut of a garment and if I fall a little bit in love with the piece. I’m also interested in quality fabrics and garments which will become a well-loved part of a wardrobe.

When I decided to open a pop up I saw it as an exciting adventure. From finding a cache of beautiful wool Shirtwaisters, from 1979, still in packets, to becoming a stockist for Palava Clothing, whose emphasis on sustainability and values align closely with my own it has been a great journey and I am very excited to share!

Palava say “We make clothes for real women and children – who live, love and laugh. Real women with real bodies and real lives. Real women who forget their keys and who have that extra slice of cake with their tea. Real children who have muddy knees and wild imaginations. We celebrate living colourfully and creatively and we will always do our best to bring an extra bit of joy to your day through our clothing.” I couldn’t agree more!

Palava Clothing

Along with clothing I have picked some littler accessories and gifts. I was drawn to brands who promote social good and have empowering work policies and hopefully reflect a sense of fun.

In-store you will also find the internationally award winning skincare range from MODM Edinburgh which is hand blended in Scotland from natural ingredients. With emphasis on wellness through self-care and ritual these products are simple, modern, sensual and they work.

I will be expanding my range as I continue this adventure and will be excited to introduce some Scottish Knitware as the days turn cooler.
