Rothiemurchus is a protected area and home to endangered species, we have had a (welcome) influx of visitors and this has resulted in an increased number of wild campers, campervans and motorhomes that have nowhere to park overnight. So, to assist in ensuring that visitors to the area enjoy their stay and that we all continue to protect this very special place, we are operating an overnight campsite during July, August and September at Loch an Eilein car park.
Limited facilities on-site – toilets are available (approx. 5 mins walk from the campsite). There is also a dog exercise area adjacent to the car park, there are also poo bins for dog waste. There are no chemical waste disposal facilities on-site. Please note there are no other facilities on-site.
Please be aware that the approach road to Loch an Eilein Car Park is narrow – we would therefore caution drivers of larger vehicles or those with limited experience driving camper vans / RV’s to be aware.
The maximum stay is 1 night. The cost per stay is £20. All proceeds will contribute towards looking after this special place – you can read about how we use these funds here.
Please remember do not light fires or BBQ’s (use a camp stove).
